Shock of Pleasure “It’s About Time”

If what they say about how history repeats it’s self is at all remotely true then welcome back the music that defined the ’90s. Shock of Pleasure is a Dallas based band with soulful female vocals, unique hints of electronic styled jazz and a sprinkle of trip-hop. It’s About Time has a sound that recalls the day’s of Sneaker Pimps, Portishead and Bjork but without the weirdness of later two. Shock of Pleasure has found an extraordinary balance of harmony and bliss. The album is packed to the brim with sixteen tacks, six of them are remixes by various DJ’s. To give you a better definition of what Shock of Pleasure is all about, think of a lounge act that includes a talented, classically trained vocalist with a pretty face backed by a jazzy trio of whom include Robert Romano formerly of Stranger than Fiction, Brent Irish and Josh Curry. This album is an essential addition to any eclectic music collection, you’d be hard-pressed to pass this one up.
